toyota camry 2018

Even as SUVs and crossovers are taking a bite out of sedan sales, the Toyota Camry still managed to be the best-selling vehicle in 2016 without a truck bed. Impressive, given that it was in the seventh and final year of its current design. And doubly so considering that it was design that was never exactly at the forefront of style, innovation or, critically, the midsize sedan pack.

Imagine, then, what the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry unveiled here in Detroit may be able to accomplish. It represents a fundamental shift for the Camry, from its obviously bolder styling and its reimagined dimensions, to the way Toyota says it will be more involving behind the wheel.

It is 0.7 of an inch wider, the wheelbase is 2 inches longer, the roof and hood height have been lowered by 1 and 1.6 inches, respectively, and the front and rear hip points have been lowered by a similar amount. The result of those dimensional changes should be a feeling of sitting in the Camry rather than on it. The steering wheel also now telescopes further (applause from the tall folks in the back), and the hood, cowl and dashboard have all been lowered to maintain visibility.

To further bolster those improved dynamics, Toyota stiffened the Camry – something it had already done considerably during the previous generation's substantial mid-cycle refresh for 2015. There's also a new double-wishbone suspension and four-point engine mounts for a reduction in noise, vibration and harshness (good news for those traditional Camryists out there). According to Toyota, driving dynamics were so at the forefront of the new Camry's development that "drivers will notice the dramatic improvements within the first few seconds of driving." We'll just go ahead and consider that a challenge for our inevitable first drive.

The all-new 2018 Camry comes with an equally all-new lineup of powertrains. The vast majority of those you'll see lining the Safeway parking lot will come with a new 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder "Dynamic Force Engine." Rather than going the small-displacement turbocharged route, Toyota adopted a longer stroke and higher compression ratio, direct injection, a variable cooling system, and the latest iteration of the brand's Variable Valve-Timing-intelligent Electric (VVT-iE) system. Output specs weren't released, but Toyota promises better power and torque (the current 2.5-liter produces 178 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque) along with best-in-class fuel economy. The current leaders in the clubhouse manage 31 mpg combined.

Also new is the 3.5-liter V6, presumably shared with the 2017 Toyota Highlander and Sienna. Both four- and six-cylinder engine options are paired to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. The Camry Hybrid makes its return also featuring the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder along with a revised continuously variable transmission that features a new Sport mode capable of simulating six gears. Selecting Sport mode also increases electric boost and thus acceleration.

One key change to the Hybrid is that its battery pack was relocated from the trunk to underneath the rear seat. This should theoretically improve trunk space and improve driving dynamics by relocating the batteries' ample weight toward the vehicle's center of gravity. Toyota anticipates the Camry will achieve "Prius-like city/highway" fuel economy, which would put it in the ballpark of 54 mpg city and 50 mpg highway.

Toyota promises a more driver-focused cabin design to go along with the aforementioned altered seating positions. The interior can be equipped with Toyota's new "Human Machine Interface" that consists of a 7-inch gauge display, a 10-inch color Head-Up Display and center stack controls that feature the latest Entune 3.0 touchscreen integrated with the HVAC control panel. Entune has been updated with new, more smartphone-like menus and icons, along with a basic navigation app standard. On-board WiFi is also now optional and the available JBL sound system has been upgraded.

All of the 2018 Camry trim levels (which continue to be split between the comfier LE and XLE, and the sportier SE and XSE) come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of accident avoidance technologies. These include forward collision warning with auto-brake and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and auto-steering, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. The 2018 Toyota Camry arrives in dealers late summer 2017.

Rolls-Royce Sweptail - World's Most Expensive Car!

Rolls-Royce debuts its stunning $13 million Sweptail coachbuild

Sweptail is a highly bespoke motor car created by Rolls-Royce to fulfill the dreams of a single customer. Unveiled at Villa d’Este for Concorso d’Eleganza, it evokes the drama of the swept-tail Rolls-Royces from the 1920s.
When, approximately one year ago, Rolls-Royce presented 103EX to the world, it invoked its coachbuilding heritage to inspire its future clientele. This Vision Vehicle envisaged a world of completely personal luxury mobility where new technologies would allow every Rolls-Royce to be designed in their owners’ image, should they wish. Such a Rolls-Royce would represent the truest meaning of luxury – a personal, Bespoke motor car like no other for each individual commissioning patron.

The owner of this car, who doesn’t wish to be named, has deep pockets. Very deep pockets, since the special Rolls is rumored to cost around $13 million. The unnamed gentleman came to Rolls-Royce to realize his vision of a one-off luxury motor car that would evoke the beauty of coachbuilt Rolls-Royces of the 1920s and 1930s. He asked for a two-seat coupé featuring a large panoramic glass roof.

That motor car is here, now and is christened ‘Sweptail’.

Presenting the car to the media at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este on Saturday 27th May 2017, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “Sweptail is a truly magnificent car. It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake, and immediately places ‘Sweptail’ in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers. Rolls-Royce’s history as the world’s leading coachbuilder is at the very core of its identity as the world’s leading luxury brand. The arrival of 103EX shone a light on the future of Rolls-Royce in this field, and ‘Sweptail’ is proof, today, that Rolls-Royce is at the pinnacle of coachbuilding. We are listening carefully to our most special customers and assessing their interest in investing in similar, completely exclusive coachbuilt masterpieces. At the same time we are looking into the resources which will allow us to offer this unique service to these discerning patrons of luxury.”

‘Sweptail’ – how the vision became the reality
“Sweptail is the automotive equivalent of Haute Couture,” comments Giles Taylor, Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “It is a Rolls-Royce designed and hand-tailored to fit a specific customer. This customer came to the House of Rolls-Royce with an idea, shared in the creative process where we advised him on his cloth, and then we tailored that cloth to him. You might say we cut the cloth for the suit of clothes that he will be judged by.”

It took a number of years for Taylor and his team of designers to bring this vision to life. “Our job was to guide, edit and finely hone the lines that would ultimately give our client this most perfect of Rolls-Royces

Audi Q5

the 2017 Audi Q5 is finally here.

On display at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, the latest SUV the brand with the four rings came up with is said to combine "the sportiness of an Audi saloon with the multifaceted character and a highly flexible interior", while adding the latest connectivity and driver assistance systems.

"With the new Q5 we are setting the bar a notch higher. Among the great innovations are the quattro drive system with ultra technology, highly efficient engines, the air suspension with damper control and a comprehensive line-up of infotainment and assistance systems", said Chairman of the Board of Management at Audi AG, Rupert Stadler.

The 2017 Audi Q5 has a more rugged appearance than its predecessor, which amplifies its off-road credentials. Influences are coming from the larger Q7 and even the smaller Q2, while the signature grille and the shape of the LED or high-res Matrix LED headlights, depending on the model selected, make it instantly recognizable as an Audi.

While its exterior screams SUV through its pores, underneath the skin, the new Q5 is actually an A4, as it is underpinned by the same MLB evo platform used on the compact car, which is also found on the Q7 as well.

The architecture helps is shed up to 90 kg (198 pounds) from its total weight, but despite being lighter, it has actually increased in size and spans at 4.66m (15.3ft) long, 1.89m (6.2ft) wide and 1.66m (5.4ft) tall, with a 2.82m (9.3ft) wheelbase. Boot space ranges from 550 to 610 liters (19.4-21.5 cubic feet), 10 liters (0.4 cubic feet) more than before, and it can expand up to 1,550 liters (54.7 cubic feet) with the rear bench folded down.

Inside, the more spacious cabin has room for five passengers, who will quickly notice the standard 7.0-inch free-standing screen or the optional 8.3-inch display, which is controllable through the rotary dial and touch pad, along with the Audi Virtual Cockpit, which is on the options list. Other features include the LTE module, Wi-Fi hotspot, Audi Connect Services, Audi phone box, Bang&Olufsen premium sound system, Audi tablet, which serves as a flexible rear-seat entertainment device, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a wide range of driver assistance and safety systems.

The engine lineup counts a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol, with 252 PS (248 HP), joined by four TDI diesels, including the 2.0-liter with 150 PS (148 HP), 163 PS (161 HP) and 190 PS (187 HP), and the 3.0-liter that develops 286 PS (282 HP) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque.

Depending on the selected version, the Germans can throw in a six-speed manual or a seven-speed S tronic gearbox, while the 8-speed tiptronic is reserved for the most potent variant. The Quattro AWD is standard on all models, except for the 150 PS diesel, where FWD can be exchanged for all-wheel drive, but for an extra cost.

The most basic version of the Q5 comes with five-link front and rear suspension, with adjustable dampers and steel springs, similar to the ones on the A4. However, as it was revealed by a previous teaser, the air suspension will become available too, as an option, and it will include a self-leveling feature taken straight from the Q7.

By the time it will arrive at dealers across Europe from early next year, the new Q5 will come with five new trim levels - Sport, Design, S Line, Design Selection and S Line - and prospective buyers will have to choose from 14 exterior colors. All examples will be assembled in Mexico and the cheapest version will carry a starting price of €45,100 ($50,555) in Germany.
